Gates 28492 Safety Stripe Standard Straight Heater Hose delivers dependable performance for everyday automotive cooling tasks. Crafted from EPDM, it’s built to handle the demands of engines in cars and light trucks. The characteristic green Safety Stripe aids quick identification in a crowded engine bay, helping you spot the correct hose during maintenance or replacement. This hose is designed to be compatible with most coolant formulations and non-oil based additives, while staying robust under high cooling system pressures.

Key benefits at a glance

• Excellent high-temperature resistance that supports long service life under steady engine heat.
• Convenient 6 ft lengths in a self-service, reusable, recyclable package ready for pegboard display.
• Meets SAE 20R3 Standard Wall Class D-2 for consistent performance in standard cooling systems.

With a broad operating range from -40°F to +257°F (-40°C to +125°C), this hose remains flexible in cold starts and resilient when the engine heats up. The EPDM compound provides resistance to common coolant mixtures and non-oil based additives, helping maintain a reliable seal across many typical configurations. The green stripe is not just aesthetic; it’s a practical cue when you're performing routine checks or replacements in a tight engine space.

Real-life use cases and practical tips

• Perfect for hose replacements in passenger cars and light trucks where standard straight routing fits the engine bay.
• Useful in DIY projects requiring a 6 ft long segment to reach multiple connections without strain.
• Consider the 3/4 in inner diameter spec when selecting clamps and fittings to ensure a snug, leak-free connection.

Usage notes and care: Do not use for fuel or oil transfer. Inspect hose ends for wear, replace clamps if needed, and store in a cool, dry place when not in use. The recyclable packaging supports simple disposal after installation, aligning with responsible workshop practices.
