Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Electric Trailer Brake Controller – Proportional Braking (1-4 Axles)

Overview

The Tekonsha Prodigy P2 is a compact, highly trusted electric trailer brake controller designed to provide smooth, proportional braking across a range of towing situations. With an internal inertia sensor, it interprets how hard you brake and translates that into appropriate trailer braking, helping you stop with confidence.

Designed for versatility, the P2 supports both electric and electric-over-hydraulic braking and lets you choose how aggressively the trailer brakes with the adjustable boost feature. A clear LED display keeps settings and trailer activity visible, while a power-save mode helps conserve power when the unit is not actively in use.

What makes it stand out

• Proportional braking automatically adjusts output based on how you brake, helping maintain a smooth trail feel in varied conditions.
• Easy to use a simple knob lets you set braking power, with a dedicated Boost button for extra stopping power when hauling heavier loads.
• Two braking modes works with traditional electric brakes or electric-over-hydraulic systems for flexibility.
• LED diagnostics display gives real-time status and alerts without guesswork.
• Self-leveling within 90° mounting ensures correct orientation on installation, reducing setup time.
• Plug & Play readiness fastens to a dash clip and includes a Plug & Play port plus a removable connector for quick storage or transfer between vehicles.
• Compatibility supports trailers with 1-4 axles and comes with mounting hardware, ready for a wide range of vehicles.

Real-world use and benefits

Whether you're caravanning, hauling equipment, or taking weekend trips, the P2 adapts to different loads and road conditions. The Boost feature adds extra braking power at the touch of a button when you anticipate heavier stops, such as descending grades or fully loaded trailers. The LED readout helps you verify conditions at a glance, while the compact design and 90-degree self-leveling capability make installation convenient in tight spaces.

Installation is designed to be straightforward: a dash-mount clip, Plug & Play port for two adapters, and a removable connector simplify setup and removal when needed.
