UANOFCN 2-Set Lower Unit Drain Plug Kit for Mercury MerCruiser Outboards – Magnetic & Non-Magnetic 3/8-16 Screws

Overview

Upgrade your lower unit maintenance with the UANOFCN 2-Set Lower Unit Drain Plug Kit. This kit combines a magnetic screw, a non-magnetic screw, and two gaskets to help you seal the drain and fill holes on your marine gear case. The hardware is designed for 3/8-16 drain or fill hole screws, making it a versatile option for a range of MerCruiser stern drives, MerCruiser outboards, and Mariner outboards (excluding Verado).

Real-world clarity and practical benefits help you assess if this kit fits your maintenance routine and engine model. The kit emphasizes a reliable seal, flexible compatibility, and straightforward replacement, without promising outcomes beyond what the hardware can offer in typical marine service conditions.

What is in the kit

• 1 magnetic drain screw for secure retention when used in magnetic assemblies
• 1 non-magnetic drain screw for versatile metal compatibility
• 2 gaskets to seal drain and fill openings during service
• Option to replace several OEM parts with a single kit for easier part matching

Why this matters

• Helps support a leak-resistant lower unit by providing a dedicated seal combination
• Includes both magnetic and non-magnetic screws to cover different installation needs
• 3/8-16 thread size supports a broad range of MerCruiser gear cases and Mariner outboards
• Two gaskets help maintain a tight seal across drain and fill openings during maintenance

Compatibility and installation

Designed for 3/8-16 drain or fill hole screws, this kit is compatible with MerCruiser stern drives, MerCruiser outboards, and Mariner outboards (excluding the Verado series). It replaces multiple OEM part numbers to offer a practical fit for several engine configurations, simplifying part matching during service.

Installation notes: ensure the drain hole threads are clean and dry, align the gasket seating, and snug the screws to recommended torque. After service, perform a brief system check to confirm there are no leaks and that the gear case remains sealed under typical operating conditions.

Maintenance perspective

The lower unit drain plug kit is designed as a maintenance accessory rather than a guarantee of performance. In controlled environments, users may experience a more consistent seal and easier service steps when pulling and re-sealing the lower unit during routine maintenance.
