Xinhan Universal Starter Heat Shield Wrap (7x24 in & 5.5x17 in) — Aluminum Fiberglass, Self-Attaching

Overview

The Xinhan Universal Starter Heat Shield is a wrap-style solution designed to shield automotive starters from intense engine heat. Available in two practical sizes — 7x24 inches and 5.5x17 inches — it fits a broad range of starter configurations. The wrap is designed for fast, tool-free installation, making it ideal for both do-it-yourself projects and professional setups that value efficiency.

Built with a thoughtful layer stack, this shield uses aluminum on one side for robust heat deflection and a fiberglass heat blanket on the other for extra insulation. A highly reflective mylar surface further deflects radiant heat, helping maintain cooler surroundings around the starter area. Notably, the kit is asbestos-free, reflecting a modern safety standard in vehicle maintenance.

Key Features

• Universal wrap design that fits most starters with a self-attaching strap
• Two wrap sizes: 7x24 in and 5.5x17 in to cover different starter configurations
• Materials: aluminum heat shielding on one side and fiberglass insulation on the other
• Non-conductive strap-on system with a highly-reflective mylar surface

Why It Matters

• Reflects over 90% of radiant heat up to 2000°F, potentially helping the starter operate cooler
• Designed to help prevent overheating-related starter failures and support steady performance
• Easy installation, asbestos-free, and a lightweight, flexible form that hugs curved surfaces

Real-World Use and Benefits

In hot, engine‑compartment environments, the shield can help keep the immediate starter area cooler, which may contribute to steadier starts. The wrap is light enough to handle during installation yet resilient enough to stay in place under typical driving conditions. By limiting radiant heat exposure, it may help protect adjacent electrical components and reduce maintenance interruptions.

Installation Tips

Wrap the shield around the starter, secure with the self-attaching strap, and ensure a snug, even fit. The kit is designed for quick setup and does not rely on asbestos-containing materials. After installation, verify clearances around any hot surfaces to avoid contact or interference.
